Jena

This past Saturday, I visited the town of Jena, which has a population of 100K, and is about 160km east of Dresden. It's located in the state of Thuringia (as opposed to Saxony, where Dresden is). A coworker of mine was throwing a party at his house Jena. It sits on a hillside and has a beautiful view.

I caught a ride with a coworker, Paul, who also likes to drive fast on the Autobahn. The speedometer reads 200km/h. Apparently he had the pedal all the way down to the floor. It's amazing how fast a little Nissan can go.
We started the day off with a tour of the city. It's quite a nice city.

A statue of John Fredrick the Magnanimous, who founded the University of Jena about 500 years ago.

In the main square...

A drumming band performing on the walkway.

We went to the rooftop of this building to get a view of Jena from above.

The neighbourhood where my coworker lives in. It's a really nice area on a hillside in Jena.
A view from the balcony.
Enjoying the sun and the heat.
It was really hot that day. Over 30C.

Barbequeing German style! The pork was marinated in a beer based marinade for 24h. Then it was basted with beer while it was cooking over a charcoal fire. It was delicious.

We had a great time. Good food, good beer, good company.

The group shot.

A night shot from the balcony.
There was a thunderstorm in Dresden when we got back. I got a cool photo of some lightning.

Mas, its really starting to bug me how you always describe the picture that's below your text. I'm always reading the text and looking at the wrong picture.

You should post the picture, and then describe it with the text below! You fail the checklist.
